About Us

Visual Cortek develops Intelligent Video Surveillance and Security Systems for enterprises and consumers alike.

Visual Cortek Inc. was founded by Professor Robert Laganière and his partner Chandrakant Gajaria. The company is a spin-off of the VIVA research lab at University of Ottawa created to leverage its research activities of the last 5 years in the field of computer vision and visual surveillance.

Visual Cortek is a Canadian company based in Ottawa, Ontario incorporated in June 2006.

 

Management Team

Paul Pearl, Chief Executive Officer

  • Entrepreneur with extensive experience in marketing and business development.
  • President of Dipix Technologies Inc. in 1992. Under his leadership, Dipix Technologies Inc became the world leader in applying machine vision to the food processing industry doing over $6 million revenue. Dipix was acquired by the Tarquin Group in 2007 where he served as Senior Vice President, Business Development.
  • Director of Precarn, a collaborative research organization, from the late 90s through 2006 where he held the position of Chair in 2004/5.

Dr Robert Laganière, Chief Technology Officer

  • Co-founder of Visual Cortek
  • Associate Professor at the School of Information Technology and Engineering of University of Ottawa.
  • 20 years experience in computer vision and image/video analysis

Chandrakant Gajaria, Director

  • Co-founder of Visual Cortek
  • Chandrakant Gajaria has been involved in creating three previous start-ups (Peeta Consultants Inc., 3Vista and Sumalytics Inc.).

Pascal Blais, VP Engineering

  • Specialist in computer vision and artificial intelligence
  • Leads the developer team and is responsible for the project management
